They got the charm, they got the style Strutting on the mile with a day-glo smile Surfing on the vibes suburban style They got charm Got that Sunday morning feeling Roping in the clan with the inside slang Waking up the woke, sipping cool assam Wash their hands of you, sanitise your view Got that Sunday morning feeling They got it all worked out, never have a doubt Or the time to listen to the wisdom of the age It's just a number like the balance of their debt to a world that owes them All that they want they'll take with open arms Drag it in, drag it under, drag it on a Sunday morning Strutting on the mile with a day-glo smile Surfing on the vibes suburban style They got charm Got that Sunday morning feeling Roping in the clan with the inside slang Waking up the woke, sipping cool assam Wash their hands of you, sanitise your view Got that Sunday morning feeling Got it charged and primed, chilling out some time Want it easy, want it now, want it all There's only 10 years to go Leave the Mondays through to Fridays to the worthy collared blues And their woes in tidy boxy rows of low rent boring clothes They'll build their lives 'round Sunday mornings Strutting on the mile with a day-glo smile Surfing on the vibes suburban style They got charm Got that Sunday morning feeling Roping in the clan with the inside slang Waking up the woke, sipping cool assam Wash their hands of you, sanitise your view Got that Sunday morning feeling One percent is all it takes to give your life that full-time Sunday morning feeling One percent is all it takes to give your life that full-time Sunday morning feeling

Talkback 02:55
Sharp look, white teeth, nice smile Don't say it's never easy Good line, catch phrase, caught you Hold tight you could get queasy They know what's best for you Preachin' on the left side, preachin' on the right side They'll drain the life from you Taking from the left side, taking from the right side They hold on living out a lie Just the two of them until they die It's just the way it's always been You don't seem with the program Find love, just one, not more That's right, that's good, you understand They draw the line at you Standing with the left side, standing with the right side That's just a thing they do Fighting for the left side, fighting for the right side They hold on living out a lie Just the two of them until they die Oh you always fear what you don't know We're not like them after the show Come backstage and be yourself Nobody else Let it go, let it go yeah They hold on living out a lie Just the two of them until they die They need to know their genes go on What would the neighbours say No chance of any trouble now Not while the cat's away They keep their secrets well Lyin' to the left side, lyin' to the right side It's such a nice hotel Sleepin' on the left side, sleepin' on the right side They hold on living out a lie Just the two of them until they die They hold on living out a lie Just the two of them until they die We're not livin' like you Any more than you're like us We're not lying like you We know, we see, we've got you sussed

Circles 05:33
I got this loop goes round and round Bouncing of these walls of sound It helps me know I'm coming down I have these days when it all seems too hard Putting out to fill my time card But still I keep up this facade Moments slipping away And still I keep up this charade It's fine, I can be your friend We can just pretend we like the same things Again and again No, I don't think you know a thing about me You're my best friend I got your hate, I need this defence You come in waves without much pretense Rising up more intense I see an offline, dropout, breakpoint Reboot, volte-face, re-route, disjoint And it's a future calling me Hold me or leave me alone I'm lost in here without a home It's fine, I can be your friend We can just pretend we like the same things Again and again No, I don't think you know a thing about me You're my best friend Fear behind your scorn Escaped that Pandora's box with the lid locked tight On the pain in the words that you spoke that night It was you and never me Caught in the lies on the left of the line that I strode with the truth for the very first time Hold on ... Paint in circles, love triangles Cut this rope before it strangles Faith in my heart, it will guide me Far from this space where I'll be free Hold on ...

Coffee 03:16
Day is getting rather long Clock is stuck, it must be wrong Hours take a hidden toll Facing life without parole Oh, if I could only find the words To say it, say it, say it, say it Get me out of here I can't stand you And all the things you say and Do me one last grace, shut your mouth Give me space to be myself I know my cross is very large Thanks to you while you're in charge With every nail you drive in hard Appears a crack in my facade Oh, if I could only find the words To say it, say it, say it, say it Get me out of here I can't stand you And all the things you say and Do me one last grace, shut your mouth Give me space to be myself I've tried so hard to mitigate The hidden fear that feeds your hate But in the end I have to leave I simply can't afford to breathe The poisoned air you blow my way I have to say it, say it, say it, say it Get me out of here I can't stand you And all the things you say and Do me one last grace, shut your mouth And give me space to be myself Shut your mouth Shut your mouth You can shed iced tears while you sip your coffee But it's way too late to say you're sorry Yeah Say it, say it, say it, say it Get me out of here I can't stand you And all the things you say and Do me one last grace, shut your mouth Give me space to be myself

Human 04:14
Into your space Hold my tongue with grace While the weight of my thoughts barely show on my face It's not my will that keeps me here Not desire but fear Of the truth in these lies growing ever more clear Take a stab in the dark You'll get it wrong, miss the mark every time Hiding here in plain sight, my defence Can you tell me it's a crime? Take me as I am Not as you want me, an empty space without a trace See me as I am Taking my own course Not yours These rules bind Like chains in my mind Set down by a faith I have long left behind In my soul a simple drive A human need to feel alive In your world built on fear all I do is survive Take a stab in the dark You'll get it wrong, miss the mark every time Hiding here in plain sight, my defence Can you tell me it's a crime? Take me as I am Not as you want me, an empty space without a trace See me as I am Taking my own course Not yours I got these crazy thoughts keep bouncing 'round my head On my way to work I'm driving but my mind is thinking back to bed Benches, buses, woods and trees, the man next door down on his knees The girls who do and boys would too Just the kind of kinks your mother hates And the priests, dirty sheets, cursing liberal elites Come in twos and fours and eights Line us up and cut us down Put us back where we belong Out of sight and underground Take me as I am Not as you want me, an empty space without a trace See me as I am Taking my own course Not yours Take me as I am Not as you want me, an empty space without a trace See me as I am Taking my own course Not yours

Underground 03:09
This city's closing down Left bare and dead Wasteland of fallen kings Drained dry and bled These hoardings serve no one Speak in tongues to me Wasteland of lonely queens Berthed on the quay I've seen these days in dreams These nightmares, sweats and fevered scenes of change Down down down in the underground Feel the rush of the wind and the heat Down down down in the underground Suck me in, take me down, take me deep These empty streets cry out In silent fear Locked down, locked out, locked in No one can hear These vistas cast in steel Stand bare against this sky Peel bells now call this time This day this city died I've seen these days in dreams These nightmares, sweats and fevered scenes of change Down down down in the underground Feel the rush of the wind and the heat Down down down in the underground Suck me in, take me down, take me deep I feel this wave of change, drowning all that we once knew Take me down and take me deep underground to be with you This city's died This city's died I know this world has gone, yesterday was years ago Give me strength to make it through, diving deep loving you Down down down in the underground Feel the rush of the wind and the heat Down down down in the underground Suck me in, take me down, take me deep

Maybe 03:06
Dancing round these words the naked truth is hard to bare Night after night the same old steps that never Lead us anywhere You with all your rules that bind your ignorance to fate While every part of me is calling out For life beyond your hate Maybe Far from this scent of your fear I can be at peace To unlove you, maybe Buttresses you build to hold up walls before your eyes Come crashing down when undermined and show me You're full of lies Still we tango with our tongues and dance around this dying pyre Like embers fading in the dark We dampen down desire Maybe Far from this scent of your fear I can be at peace To unlove you, maybe So cold in here Breathing in your air So cold in here Maybe I'll take this chance for me Movin' out and up and on and anything I wanna be Ride to the end with a lover and a friend or two Or solo on a Sunday with the boys at the top of town Gimme just a crack and jack and a way to go I'll leave you in a heartbeat, you really oughta to know Maybe Far from this scent of your fear I can be at peace To unlove you, maybe

Tight line on a Sunday chat show Hung the man out for what he'd done He felt good in his gold stilettos What a shame for the pastor's son Oh you gotta say it as you see it Oh it's not your thing but you kinda like it You're inclined to cross the line Fantasise a while, just take your time Bad rap in a Sunday tabloid Hung the girl out what a scene She felt good at the nightclub party What a shame for the football team Oh you gotta say it as you see it Oh it's not your thing but you kinda like it You're inclined to cross the line Fantasise a while, just take your time Been a long time getting here Every twist and turn I had to learn There's nothing left in life to fear When the voice in your head is clear Dance around, same old tune Howling loudly at the moon You got chains you can't see You gotta break them to be free We're lighting a fire, burning a way A beacon of light to guide what we say A world in the dark, shaded in grey The rules that you make are killing today We're running the heads, breaking the waves Cutting the chains of the coupling slaves And it's all in the name, silent and strong The nature of love where we all belong Out here Freedom is one kiss away Freedom is one kiss away Freedom is one kiss away

Nova 03:54
I caught a glimpse of my life In the blade of a knife It's so easy to forget you're on the edge When the ground caves in At the end you begin Feeling for the first time I'm coming in fast and I'm coming in low Blowing all the blossoms and a passing beau I've got this, open up and let it go I'm coming in hard and I'm coming in tight Burning all my bridges it's a beautiful sight I feel this, nova burn bright I stole a look at my face All the tenants it traced In the lines that drove me deeper into fear When the walls close in And the lies wear thin Knowing for the first time I'm coming in fast and I'm coming in low Blowing all the blossoms and a passing beau I've got this, open up and let it go I'm coming in hard and I'm coming in tight Burning all my bridges it's a beautiful sight I feel this, nova burn bright Are you free to judge me? I don't think so Hold on to your life, balanced on a knife It's such a long way to fall in the end I broke the chain of your myth Breached your core monolith It's so easy when you've nothing left to lose So much more to love Looking from above Breathing in the clean air I'm coming in fast and I'm coming in low Blowing all the blossoms and a passing beau I've got this, open up and let it go I'm coming in hard and I'm coming in tight Burning all my bridges it's a beautiful sight I feel this, nova burn bright Tick-tock time steals a slice of a moment Break our love on the rocks on the shores of barren islands We can all lift our wings with the love we are given Change these rules that define us In the truth we are not hidden from ourselves

That's the way we do it That's the way we roll Ride a moment's pleasure Our freedom in control Low lights, late nights, half-dressed parle Clock a mark at a hunter's mile Slick back, tight lips, loose ships passing Take a ride on a stranger's smile Hook it up, cocked and loaded Hitch it up just a little higher Double up, three, four or more Get it up, you know it's time to We slide into a space where words just melt away Meanwhile the righteous sounding off with guilty stains Will be cursing in their semis on the end of social chains That's the way we do it That's the way we roll Ride a moment's pleasure Our freedom in control Steam punk, full dunk, chilled-out grazing Feel the lust of a voyeur's gaze Hard gains, soft plains, fast lanes driving Pump the spark and fuel the blaze Get it off and get it on yeah Bring it on, primed and warmed up Boot it up, systems go now Let it go, you know you want to We slide into a space where words just melt away Meanwhile the masses Google others having fun Close the curtains, lock the doors and beat the drum until they're done That's the way we do it That's the way we roll Ride a moment's pleasure Our freedom in control That's the way we like it That's the way we like it That's the way we like it That's the way we like it Give it up, love has no rules Share it out, tribe needs feeding Free your mind, rest will follow Be yourself, you know you need to We slide into a space where words just melt away Meanwhile the TV titillates and shames with zeal Hanging out the innocents for the shame of being real That's the way we do it That's the way we roll Ride a moment's pleasure Our freedom in control

Home 05:20
This life, so short, In a blink it's gone Yet still you will stand there with fear on your shoulders And tell me, I'm wrong No more I'm done with falling on my sword for you It's over I'm just a call away from dancing with the Angels and Queens and their lovers and their Kings When the methadone kicks in and the fat lady sings You can round up all the unicorns, plus ones old and young And when my dance card is full I'll let you know my time is done With your scorn, this crown of thorns Misunderstood or just despised I draw my strength, you draw your sword, these drugs don't work I can't afford the time to lay here hoping for more See me Just this once can't you understand It's over I'm just a call away from dancing with the Dreamers and beaus and a summer English rose On the rebound from the garden says you reap all you can sow You can hook up all the players, strip away their hardened layers When the playtime bell is rung, I'll take my leave and hold my tongue for No one, no one, no one, no one at all Libertines in the city club scene And the wide open beaches and the 'burbs in between There's a truth in the heart of the tribe out there Calling me home yeah Now now now going home home home Where my soul can love, where I'm not alone Going in in in, share my heart, bare my skin Let it breathe, let it live, let the truth, let this new life begin You're lost and lonely we're waiting here for you Dear friends you're gathered here You talk of loss, life's so unfair I was always the odd face the one not quite in place And now that I've gone do you know I'm going home I'm going home I'm going home I'm coming home Now now now going home home home Where my soul can love, where I'm not alone Going in in in, share my heart, bare my skin Let it breathe, let it live, let the truth, let this new life begin

about

OLDER's second studio release is a hard-edged, up-front album drawing on multiple genres resulting in a unique sound.

Following on from their debut album ‘SILENCE’ (2019) OLDER now build on their unique place in the New Zealand music scene with their second album, ‘HUMAN+’, released 1 November 2021.

The songs on ‘HUMAN+’ are grounded in the notion of freedom - a theme at the heart of most of OLDER's writing - in particular freedom for people who reject standard relationship narratives.

We produce music laden with antipathy for mainstream culture and seasoned with an alternative point of view, wrapped up in a deceptive layer of respectability. We champion the creative thinker and the under dog yapping in the wind. Everything we write is inspired by first-hand experience through our ADHD lens.
